Call for papers: The challenge of claiming damages in competition law

The Centro de Investigación para el Desarrollo, A.C (CIDAC) through the Mexican Network of Competition and Regulation invites the academia, the private sector and other experts in competition and regulation to submit their contributions on the topic:

“The challenge of claiming damages in competition law“

Authors might cover this topic from a legal and an economic perspective as well as they could study the subject from an individual point of view or as a collective action.

For the first stage, authors should submit a proposal of investigation in no more than two pages. This proposal should contain:

1.Brief description of the problem or subject-matter

2.Brief description of the legal, economic or social implications of the problem or subject-matter

3.Brief description of the investigation/analysis to carry out, including the main methodological and bibliographic references.

4.Summary of the conclusions or recommendations the author expects to reach through the investigation

A Committee will evaluate these proposals and select four of them for the second stage. The Committee will communicate to the authors the selection of the proposals for them to develop and submit the complete papers.

The four winning papers will be rewarded, each of them, with USD 3,000 and the publication of the paper in a book that CIDAC will largely divulgate.

Rules of procedure:

The papers should have a maximum length of 35 pages and they should be submitted to gabriela.legorreta@cidac.org

Deadlines:

•Submission of proposal: November 21, 2013

•Notification of Committee´s decision: November 25-27, 2013

•Submission of papers: December 18, 2013

•Publication of the articles in a book: February 2014

The economic reward will be subject to the compliance of the terms and conditions established by CIDAC that will be distributed to the authors of the four selected proposals.
